Export Packaging

Highwood Export Packaging, also known as transport packaging, is a specialized service and expertise that we provide. Great care is taken to comply with general export procedures, and to make sure your goods arrive intact and undamaged to your overseas customer. It is the outermost layer of packaging and is designed to protect your goods during transit. At Highwood our packaging experts will utilize any number of shipping materials including metal containers, wooden pallets, crates and plastic shrink-wrapping. You have a wide variety of options when choosing how to package goods for export.

The main types of export packaging include:

Loose or unpacked
A common option for large, heavy metal items. We make sure they are stowed securely and use additional protective packaging where necessary.

Boxes or crates
One of the most prevalent options, are often stacked on pallets and shrink-wrapped for stability. Less durability is required if goods are also containerized.

Wrapping
Often used with goods stacked on pallets, wrapping – such as shrink-wrap or foil – both adds to stability and protects goods.

Pallets
Allow smaller packing units such as boxes and cartons to be grouped together. They allow easy mechanical transporting (e.g. forklift trucks), which eases the process of loading, unloading and warehousing.

Container (ISO)
When necessary, for logistical efficiency, ISO containers are used to transport most export consignments. Containers are standardized metal boxes. The goods inside might still need packaging, but the container offers added protection, and increased security from theft.
